Kacie saw Dr. Jenkins yesterday and he was impressed with how good she looked. All of her blood work looked good except for her creatinine. We are still praying and waiting for her kidneys to start working. He changed some of her medications. She only has to take her calcitrol every other day and he decreased her epogen shot from 6500 units to 5000. We won't do blood work again until next week and will see Dr. Jenkins again on Nov 5th.
Kacie also went to Dr. Bettis' office and saw Brad Mulkey. Brad thought she looked good. The original plan was to do another MRI in a month then see Dr. Bettis, but I got a call today and Dr. Bettis wants to see her first then do the MRI, (which makes no sense to me). The MRI is to see if the swelling and bleeding on the brain has improved.
We also met with Kacie's school this week and her teacher has agreed to come out to the house three days a week for an hour and a half and then Kacie will go to the school on Fridays for an hour or so to spend time with her class. Dr. Jenkins isn't planning on Kacie going to school full time until January.
Kacie is doing better everyday. Mornings are still kind of rough on her tummy. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers for Kacie. We sure appreciate all the support we have received, it means so much to us.

I am so happy for Kacie getting to move forward and even go to school for an hour. HOpe the time w/friends helps the time pass more quickly. We continue to pray for you. Happy Halloween!
I'm glad there's improvement, even though it's small sometimes. But isn't it still SO much better than being stuck in the hospital??? That's great that her teacher is going to come out and help, I bet Kacie is looking forward to going back to school! Take care!
