Oct. 6 (Monday)

Today Kacie was moved out of PICU. We thought we were going back into room 32, but when I went over to check it out the nurses aid said, "We have another room we think you'd like better." I asked if we could let Kacie choose which room. So we put Kacie in a wheel chair and showed her room 35. Sure enough she really liked it. It is a nice room which oncology kids use while going through chemotherapy. It has a counter-top fridge and a small desk for a laptop computer. The room is a lot larger than room 32. We've dubbed it our "healing" room.

Kacie walked three times today with the Physical Therapist. Her appetite was up today also. Everything was going great until she got nauseated about 8:00. The nurse gave her some compazine for the nausea, but it did NOT set well at all. She had a severe reaction to it causing her to have muscle spasms. It was scary for awhile until Dr. Jansen remembered that some children react that way to some nausea medications. Anyway, NO MORE COMPAZINE for Kacie ever. Just to make sure she didn't have another bleed, Dr. Jansen ordered a CT scan. Nothing had changed since the last scan and so he felt certain that it was the drug.

All in all today was a good uphill day. We are counting on an even better day tomorrow. We are so thankful for our "healing" room, and our many blessings.

Kacie,
We are so glad you had a good day, except for the reaction to the meds. We are grateful you have a "healing" room that will help you get more sleep and get better faster. It was great to see you past few days! We miss you already, but we will come back when you go home so we can play the wii together! WE SURE LOVE YOU!!!
