Kacie's day started off kind of rough. They did a xray on her stomach and chest to see how things were looking and then she threw up. Dr. Christensen came in right away and told Kacie he was going to have to put in a NJ tube because she wasn't eating and taking all of her meds. Well you can imagine how much Kacie liked that idea so he gave her the option of eating 5 times a day just a little bit at a time and getting up and walking more. He told her if she didn't do it he would have the nurse but the NJ tube in. This tube is different than the NG tube because it goes in past the stomach and is used for giving nutrition and meds.
Kacie did a great job of getting up and trying to eat even when her stomach was upset. She even made it out to the waiting room a couple of times. We said goodbye to Rosie and her kids and Brandon and Brady came over for a little while. We decided to wait to celebrate Brady's birthday when Kacie is feeling better or maybe in after she gets home. Brady is so cute when he comes to the hospital now because he knows so many of the nurses. His favorite one was not there today so he kept going up and down the hall calling out his name, "Ben, Ben, Where's Ben." Brandon asked Kacie's nurse Teresa if she had ever heard of ACDC, she told him that she went to their concert when she was 17, their Black and Black tour. He thought that was pretty cool.
The doctor is planning on getting Kacie out of PICU in the morning and is hoping she can go home in a week. Now that her blood pressure is under control we just need Kacie eating more and keeping it down. Nicardipine seems to be the drug that is working the best on her blood pressure.
Grandma Sue is staying with Kacie a couple of nights so I can spend some more time with the boys.

Happy Birthday, Brady! You know you've spent way too much time in the hospital when you're 4-year old remembers all the nurses by name! :)
It was good to talk to you last night, Tammy...you sounded so good! I hope you know we are still praying for you and trying to be more specific in our requests as we do so.

Happy 4th Birthday Brady, we are so glad you are home and all better now. Hopefully Kacie will be able to go home soon as well, hang in there Kacie, you are in our thoughts and prayers daily, we are all pulling for you. You are an incredibly strong and couragous little girl.

Wow! Things are sounding "up" again. Almost hate to say the word as it seems you go roller coaster every other day. As long and hard as this has been, can you imagine children who spend their whole lives living in a plastic bubble because they have no immunity. At least you have the knowledge that you WILL get to go home. I'm sure you've looked at lots of the other children in PICU who have terminal diseases. We are so very thankful for your excellent Dr.s who have been blessed by Heavenly Father to watch over your care even though it's taking so long to get everything regulated and working right. Be sure to thank the nurses often for all they do as well. You are so very strong and such a marvelous example of courage. We look every day from here in St. George to see how you are doing! So glad you are doing better. It's been a long road. I thought about you and your family so much as I watched and listened to General Conference. Your trials have been long and hard, but you are endureing well, one day at a time!! We love you and pray for you often. Get well soon.
