Our day started off kind of rough. Kacie was up most of the night throwing up and we were really discouraged thinking we were not going to be able to take out her NG tube. Plus Kacie was really scared with the thought of it being removed. But after I discussed it with the nurse, we both decided that Kacie was gagging on the tube which was causing her to throw up. We then made the decision to take it out. Kacie was pretty reluctant, but we both said, "You can do it!" Needless to say, Kacie has been a new girl today. She played 3 games of yahtzee with Mom and Grandma and has been asking for food and even did a little walking on her own and a lot more talking. She even admitted that she felt a lot better and she hasn't complained about her ear today either. However, we haven't had any urine the last two days.
One interesting side note: Whenever they work with Kacie's IV and give her saline it gives her a bad taste in her mouth. One of the nurses got a cotton swab and dipped it in mint oil for Kacie to smell while they work on her IV and that has really helped a lot. Mom today remembered that Kaylin always got a bad taste in her mouth from the saline. The nurses never believed Kaylin until one day they were working on her IV while she was asleep and she still reacted to it.

Grandma got Kacie to laugh today. She was trying to get a Styrofoam cup out of the water dispenser and she put her finger through the cup. It was nice seeing Kacie smile again.

Cheryl helped Kacie have a good day by taking out her NG tube plus she helped us move to a new room with two windows with a nice view of the foothills.

GREAT!!! Glad that tube is out and things seem to be going good! Ashlee is ready to come visit this weekend, and hope that Kacie is up for it! Nice to see she is out playing hoops and not stuck in bed! Great to see a smile on her face! What a beautiful young lady! Glad to hear your might be coming home soon, we can come visit more when you are closer! Keep up all the hard work and see you soon!

Hoorary for Kacie! We are SO glad they moved you to a different room! The other one was so dark and depressing, so hopefully having a sunnier room will be a big help! It's so great to see your sweet smile again and we're happy that you got that nasty tube out! You've been a trooper all along and we know you'll just keep getting stronger and stronger in the days ahead. Give your sweet mom a squeeze for us...she's a good one! (We loved the picture of you and Grandma Sue...she's a good one, too!)

we are so excited about the new room and the removal of the tube! You look awesome! We are praying for you and your family still... And, I talked to Jocie yesterday and she was pretty excited to see you and the BSU team/cheerleaders today! Have so much fun with that and get lots of pictures!
