Today was even better than yesterday. Kacie went on three good walks. She is on a regular diet and loving that, she can have all the dairy food she wants now. Her blood pressure is stable now that they increased her
meds a little more. Her
creatinine was .67. We had a couple hours of training with Debbie, the nurse care coordinator, on her
meds and keeping her safe and healthy. She lost most all her tubes, monitors and the IV that was in her hand. She is down to just her IV fluid through her central line, the catheter and the tube collecting all the fluid from her surgery (fluid has to be less than 60
mls to take that out). She is getting all her
meds orally now. Kacie was so glad to not have her oxygen monitor anymore... yesterday it was so cute because she kept blowing on her finger because she thought it was hot from the red light. We were all cleared to go up to the main floor but they didn't have any rooms available so we are stuck here for another night.
We played Five Crown for a couple of hours or longer, I can't keep track of the time. She also got to
skype Reid and his girls and show off her new battle wound. When we get back home she will have her PD catheter removed along with a stint in her
ureter and possibly her bad kidneys if they keep causing problems with her blood pressure.

We received some information on how to contact the donor's family. Anyone that wants to write a letter can send them to me and we can send them all to the nurse care coordinator and she will contact them to see if they want to accept them. She said no one has ever declined. All they ask is that we don't use any last names or addresses in our letters. All we know so far is that she has a large, right kidney from a young adult and the accident occurred in the northwest region, which includes Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Our hearts go out to the donor family!!!

Today was such fun with Kacie. She even got her giggle back and wasn't tormented by so much itching. She skunked Tammy & I at 5 Crown (no we didn't "let" her win). Thank you Kacie for your great efforts in doing everything they ask you to do. We know it's not easy, but you do it anyway. We love you, Gpa & Gma Tammy, you are an amazing Mom
Tammy, it was so good to talk to you tonight and hear that things are going so well for Kacie! Thanks for the info on writing to the donor family...we thought they'd told you that you had to wait a year to contact them for some reason. Something that was said last year in Portland, I guess.
I'm sorry they didn't have a regular room available...did you tell them to please not charge you the ICU rate for last night?! haha

Kacie, You look so good and sounds like you are doing awesome too! I am so glad you were able to get so many tubes out and were able to have some fun today. You have the best family to play games with. I don't even know how to play 5 crown. I always wished my family played as many games as yours! You are an amazing couragous young girl!
