Update August 27 12:00

Kacie was awake enough to watch all of "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Dr. Jenkins, the Kidney Specialist out of Portland is here today. He was pleased with her progress. She did have more urine output this morning. She did not need the oxygen mask during the night so we can get rid of one more machine. Her blood pressure is still maintaining and her blood sugars are doing better. They changed her finger poke to every other hour. He thinks she will only need the dialysis 4-7 more days. Once things start moving through her better they can take the NG (nasal gastric)tube out. That will make her throat feel tons better and hopefully improve our communication.

He was thinking the time line for going back to school will be around Oct 1st with some home tutoring between now and then. He also said Kacie would have to continue seeing him in clinic once a year for tens years to monitor her blood sugars and blood pressure.

At 1:30 today they did an echo cardiogram just to rule out any problems with her heart. Everything looked fine except for a bubble of fluid surrounding the heart that needs to dissipate.

She has begun Physical Therapy. They had her sit up twice today. Once on the edge of the bed and the other time in a chair. She was in the chair for about 1/2 hour while they exercised her arms and legs.

Thank you so much for all your prayers. We are feeling the blessings from our Heavenly Father and a miracle starting to happen.

that sounds promising! We are so grateful Heavenly Father has been with you through this journey and we are thinking of you all through these long days and nights.

Yea for kidney's working a little better! And, maybe when you're feeling all better kacie, a trip to Portland once a year will be a fun vacation! (: Love you!
