Talked to Dr. Christensen this morning. The fluid on the outside of Kacie's lungs are gone but they are still somewhat collapsed at the bottom. Her platelets are over 200 today and her kidney counts are still about the same. Her lipids (pancreas counts) were down yesterday around 220 but are up over 600 today which is still a lot better than what they were.
During the night Kacie tore off her oxygen monitor, blood pressure cuff, Hospital gown and bracelet and was working on the tube that drains the fluid off her stomach. The doctor said that is a good sign that she is doing better we just need to get the kidneys putting out fluid.
Kacie was able to sit in a chair for about 15 minutes while we changed her sheets. She is still really sleepy but has been able to stay off the oxygen mask.

When Scott was taking classes he would drop Kacie off at my house. It would be early morning and she would always say, "Grandma, I am hungry." She would always ask for scrambled eggs. I would get out a bowl and the eggs. By then Kacie was letting me know that she was old enough to crack them herself. After all she was early four years old! Then she would use my old fashioned egg beater to mix them. When the were done cooking she would look at me and say, "Do you have seasoning salt?" Only after I had gotten it out and sprinkled it on just right would she eat her eggs. She said, "That is how Daddy fixes them." (I am sure it was because Scott used to tell me my boiled potatoes were bland.) We love you Kacie and are waiting for you to get better. Love Grandma T.

We are so happy Kacie is off the ventilator! That machine is so important, but so scary! It is great news that Kacie is fighting her tubes & wires! Keep it up, sweetheart, and you'll be home soon. There is nowhere we'd rather you be than the ICU when you are sick, but we hope you are well soon and back with us! We love your family, and wish you only the best as you ride this "roller coaster". All our thoughts and prayers are with you! Love, Mark D. & Brenda
